If you’ve been dreaming of skydiving and want to make a difference, consider this your sign from the universe: put the fun in fundraising with a tandem skydive for charity!
There are plenty of ways to raise money for a good cause – some more inspiring than others to both the donors and the fundraiser. If setting up another bake sale doesn’t get your heart racing or your hopes up about the proceeds, you’re in luck. A charity skydive is guaranteed to grab donors’ attention! Let’s dig into what’s involved in doing a skydive for charity!
What is a Charity Skydive?
A charity skydive is a tandem jump that you make with the aim of raising money for a cause. The idea is simple: you commit to making a skydive (for most charity skydivers, it’s their first!) and then gather donations or sponsorships from friends, family, and supporters to benefit a nonprofit organization or cause close to your heart.

Who Can Do a Skydive for Charity?
If you meet our tandem skydiving requirements, you can jump for charity! At Wisconsin Skydiving Center, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Weigh under 260 lbs
- Be in generally good health
There’s no upper age limit in skydiving – our sport is for the young and the young at heart!
To multiply your fundraising efforts (and fun), gather a group to jump alongside you or serve as your hype crew on the ground. Skydiving is always better with friends and family – it’s a great bonding experience and team-building activity. Plus, groups have access to great skydiving deals – if you rally 20+ other jumpers, the organizer’s skydive is completely free!
Benefits of a Fundraising Skydive
A fundraising skydive is a super unique way to garner support for a worthy cause. It brings awareness to your “why” and increases donor motivation to give – after all, you’re willingly jumping out of a perfectly good airplane! Reach out to local news outlets to spread the word about what you or your group are setting out to accomplish. The media is often keen to feature good news, especially when it celebrates locals making an impact or sheds light on a cause of community interest.
The benefits of making a tandem skydive for charity goes beyond philanthropy, of course. It’s incredibly fulfilling on a personal level as well. The psychological health benefits associated with skydiving may surprise you – it’s known to help people overcome a fear of heights and has the ability to even change your life. 8 Best Skydive Fundraiser Tips
To make the most of your skydiving fundraiser, follow these simple steps:
- Pick a Cause That Matters to You: Choose a charity that has significant meaning in your life. Set a fundraising goal and tell your story. Explain your personal motivation for jumping and why you’ve chosen the beneficiary that will receive the funds you raise.
- Spread the Word: Reach out to your friends, local businesses, and the media. Use your sphere of influence to drum up support and encourage word of mouth. Up your credibility by sharing the name of the skydiving dropzone and the organization you’ll award the funds to.
- Get Donors Involved: Structure your fundraiser so your supporters “sponsor” your skydive – for example, pledging a certain amount for every thousand feet you fall. At 10,000 feet, that adds up quickly! Not only does this make donating more engaging for your audience, it’s a fun way to track progress and boost excitement as you get closer to jump day.
- Offer Creative Incentives: Thank your supporters in fun ways: give them shout-outs on social media, mention them in your tandem skydiving video, write their name on your hands and forearms for your freefall photos, wear their merch during your jump!
- Keep Your Donors Updated: Keep your supporters engaged by sharing regular updates throughout your journey. Let people know how close you are to your goal, thank them publicly when they contribute, and show them exactly how their support is making a difference. Use every channel at your disposal – social media, email, text updates, even short videos – to keep the momentum going. The more your supporters feel included, the more likely they are to continue sharing your fundraiser and encouraging others to contribute.
Sharing your journey is one of the most powerful ways to inspire support. Create inspiring content that documents your experience from start to finish – whether it’s a short video explaining your motivation, a social media post counting down to the big day, or a heartfelt message thanking your donors. Personal stories help your audience feel connected to your cause and your courage. - Invite Your Supporters to the DZ: Encourage your donors to meet you at the dropzone on jump day to cheer you on and celebrate your collective achievement. Make a day of it – dress to stand out, bring snacks or food for the grills, and set up on one of the picnic tables.
- Consider Your Workplace: It can be a great resource for extra fundraising momentum. Check with your HR department about donation-matching programs or opportunities to share your story in the company newsletter or intranet. Even something as simple as a poster on the staff bulletin board or in the break room can bring in support and start conversations. You may be surprised by how many colleagues are excited to contribute and cheer you on.
- Skydive for Your Cause: Once you’ve reached your fundraising target, it’s time for the best part – skydiving! Share the experience afterward, including your photos, video, what you learned from stepping out of your comfort zone, and how the funds will benefit the cause.
Are you ready to make a difference, challenge yourself, and inspire others? Book your skydive now!
