You’ve probably seen the videos of people leaping out of planes, freefalling through the brisk wind, and landing with a huge grin plastered on their face. Well, if you’re a denture-wearer, you’re likely wondering, “Can you go skydiving with dentures?” Yes! We’re happy to report that you can absolutely go skydiving with dentures! Taking the ultimate leap with some false teeth on board is super common, as millions of people in the United States – young and old – wear full dentures or partials and still take to the skies.
Skydiving with dentures is a totally viable option. We have a few tips, tricks, and precautions for taking your dentures skydiving – read on!

Skydiving With Dentures: Yes or No?
Just because we say YES to, “Can you wear false teeth while skydiving?” – doesn’t necessarily mean that you should. Huh? Don’t worry, we’re not saying those with dentures shouldn’t jump at all; it just may be best to leave them safe and sound on the ground.
Everyone’s oral health journey is unique – and we can’t approach it with a one-size-fits-all mentality. This is why our best piece of advice is to consult with your dental provider. Whoever placed the dentures in your mouth and, of course, the person who wears them (YOU!) will know what’s best.
In the meantime, here’s a quick checklist to help you decide if soaring the skies with your dentures is right for you:
Yes, Dive with Dentures!
- If your dentures fit like a glove and you trust your adhesive with your life!
- If you have a backup plan, like a spare set of teefers. Although we wouldn’t count on them taking their own personal freefall, anything is possible, and it’s good to be prepared. *Having an extra set on hand can give you peace of mind during a day where lots of new and exciting things are happening*
No, Leave Them on the Ground
- If they’re prone to popping out when you yell or holler – this wouldn’t translate too well to 120 mph winds blasting into them during freefall.
- If the potential of losing them is not worth the benefit of wearing them. This is also one reason we kindly request people remove special jewelry prior to jumping.
Still on the fence? Chat with your skydiving instructor – they’ve seen it all and can weigh in on if they think it’s a safe bet to jump with your dentures, or if a teeth-free freefall is the way to go.
PS. This goes for anything you’re hesitant about – we pride ourselves on being a judgement-free dropzone and understand skydiving is a foreign concept to many – it’s okay to ask questions. The key to a positive experience skydiving is communication!
Can Your Dentures Fall Out While Skydiving?
Sure, lots of things can happen when we skydive. Skydiving is a sport that has inherent risk – including the risk of losing your dentures – and this is why we take all possible precautions to mitigate every risk we can. These precautions include:
- Making sure your dentures are fitted securely, and double checking their fit before you board the plane!
- Keeping your mouth closed during the skydive. Ehhh, this one is easier said than done!
- If you do choose to rock the falsies and want your smile to shine through (heck yeah!), think about having a clenched-teeth smile, rather than a wide open “AHHH” type of smile.
- Use denture adhesive. If you typically just pop those suckers in with nothing holding on but the gum, consider an extra layer of protection with some adhesive.

What Medical Conditions Prevent Skydiving?
If dentures don’t, what disqualifies you from skydiving? Although skydiving aims to be one of the most inclusive sports out there, some challenges may prevent people from taking the leap:
- Uncontrolled heart issues – like hypertension.
- Neurological disorders – like epilepsy.
- Musculoskeletal problems – such as recent procedures or issues with the spine.
- Uncontrolled diabetes – skydiving is exciting enough, and combining that exertion with wacky blood sugar is a recipe for a not-so-fun time.
- Pregnancy – skydiving poses a risk of trauma to the abdominal area, there are changes in oxygen levels, and general stress placed on the body.
So, can you skydive with dentures? Yep! Just make sure your dentures fit well, use adhesive if necessary, and always communicate with your instructor. And of course, if in doubt, consult with your dentist to ensure your dentures are skydiving-ready.
Don’t let anything hold you back from experiencing the thrill of human flight. We can’t wait to see you take that leap of faith – dentures and all! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any further questions or concerns.
