Learn To Skydive

Become a Licensed Skydiver

LEARN TO SkydiVE Course

Our learn to skydive program has been developed as a result of 40 years of in-house experience, and our curriculum follows industry standard training guidelines. It is the most comprehensive, modern, and safe method of skydiving training in the world today. It will take you from the ground up, all the way through your skydiving license in as little as 25 jumps (tandem included). The program at WSC provides a continuity of instruction which is rare among skydiving schools in the USA.  We start with three Solo skydives (after your initial Tandem Skydive), which will introduce you to flying your own parachute and learning parachute landing patterns.  Once you are comfortable with your parachute flying skills, you will commence freefall skydives from and altitude of 12,500′.

HOW IT WORKS

Our learn to skydive program is a modified variation of the Accelerated Free Fall training method – it’s the same program, but better. Our program improves upon standard AFF training by reducing the information overload (and overwhelm) every student feels! The traditional program consists of six hours of ground school training which includes aircraft procedures, exiting, free fall, canopy flight, landing, and emergency procedures… followed by a jump! It’s like cramming for a big test which leaves many in a state of overwhelm.

Our modified approach is designed to break this information down into three distinct sections allowing for greater confidence, less overwhelm, and ultimately your success. This phased approach is broken down by:

  1. Making a Tandem Skydive
  2. Solo Skydives focused on Flying Your Parachute
  3. Free Fall Skydives
  4. Becoming Certified

STEP 1: TANDEM

A tandem is the best introduction to the sport!  You get it all – a ride to full altitude, a long freefall, a canopy flight, and landing.  It is easy and efficient; 20-30 minutes of ground school is sufficient because you will be harnessed to an expert.

STEP 2: SOLO

It’s time to step it up a notch!  If you have what it takes, after 3 hours of training, you will be jumping out of an airplane by yourself.  This phase of the training program is focused on exiting the airplane and canopy (parachute) flight skills.

STEP 3: FREEFALL

Again, time to step it up another notch and experience what this whole thing is all about; FREEFALL! Another 3 hours of ground training and you will be exiting the airplane at full altitude, freefalling, managing your stability and altitude awareness, deploying your parachute, flying it, and landing it.  The whole 9 yards!  … you will have two instructors at your side, then going down to one.

STEP 4: USPA A License

This is the pinnacle of your skydiving training.  What seems so far away at the beginning, now becomes a reality.  Throughout the program, you have learned how to prepare and execute a skydive in its entirety all by yourself.  Now you can go ahead and skydive anywhere in the world.  Simply show your license.  You have joined the brotherhood of “cool cats”.
