How We Do Skydiving Differently
WSC News & Info

“The person who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The person who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever seen before.”
– Albert Einstein
True story: It’s not always easy to be the outlier. At the Wisconsin Skydiving Center–because the skydiving community already dances to the beat of a different drum–we double right down on that. We’re the outliers among the outliers. But y’know what? We’re glad that we’re different. People–our community of Madison and Milwaukee fun jumpers, the skydivers that visit us as they’re traveling through southern Wisconsin, and the folks who choose us for their first-time skydiving experiences—notice the ways we’re different. And they love us for it. What could be more satisfying than working hard to be really good and being celebrated for that effort?
We’re enormously proud that WSC has five-star reviews across the board, but we don’t take it for granted. Here’s what we do differently every day in order to uphold the standards as high as we’ve set them.
We Give Truly Excellent Customer Service.
A tribe as passionate as ours can’t help but sweat the small stuff. People notice that we pay incredible attention to the details of every single skydive we’re a part of, from check-in to signing logbooks to rousing high-fives for every first-time skydiver. (We mean ‘em!)
We Celebrate Our Core Values.
You know how your high-school guidance counselor always told you that “if you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything,” and to set goals that correspond with those core values? We took her way seriously. We set our core values right at the beginning, and our owners, staff and instructors (as well as lots of our extended jumping community!) live them every day:
1. Deliver an amazing experience.
2. Treat each other with honesty and respect.
3. Be passionate and determined.
4. Continuously learn and grow.
5. Enjoy the journey and have tons of fun.
Our Safety Record Is Solid Gold.
We believe that a skydiving dropzone is only as good as its safety record, so we go into every single skydiving day with a hardcore determination to keep ours as spotless as it has always been. We use the best possible equipment and maintain each component as lovingly as if it were a treasured vintage racecar. Bo, one of our founder/owners, is an FAA-Certified Master Parachute Rigger, with over 35 years of parachute rigging experience, and he personally maintains all of our parachutes. Bo also holds an FAA Aircraft Mechanic License (with an Inspection Authorization), and he personally maintains our fleet of aircraft. Leaving things to chance just ain’t our bag, baby…and it shows.
We Are An Extended Family.
When you come to WSC, you feel the love. No wonder: We’re a family. Our owners, Bo Babovic and Alex Kolacio, set the friendly, welcoming, inviting, inclusive tone. Bo and Alex’s three children (Olivia, 11; Sofia, 9; and Lucas, 8) who often “load organize” the kiddie hijinks on the ground. From the very first moment of arrival, jumpers feel comfortable here–and appreciate that an owner, a member of staff or a kindly fun jumper is always at hand to answer questions.
In conclusion: We’re different, and we know it, and we’re proud. We don’t intend to conform to the factory-style sensibility that so many dropzones tucker out and fall into. Why? We think Winston Churchill captured it best:
“Kites rise high against the wind, not with it.”
– Winston Churchill
