When Does Skydiving Season End?
Skydiving Tips

We’ve talked about when the skydiving season starts, so it’s time to talk about when the skydiving season ends. The short answer is it depends on what part of the country you’re located in as it varies by state and country. For us here at Wisconsin Skydiving Center, the last day of the skydiving season usually ends during the third or fourth weekend in October (October 30th this year). We’d prefer it never end, but with temperatures between 25° to 30° colder at altitude, the greatest adventure in life quickly turns into the coldest adventure in life! Because of this, it’s best to wait until spring!
When Does the Skydiving Season End in Each Region of the US?
Location | Start of Season | Busy Season | End of Season |
Midwest | Mid-April | June – August | Late October |
Mid-Atlantic | Mid-March | June – August | Late November |
Northeast | Mid-April | June – August | Late October |
Southeast | No Start of Season | January – March | No End of Season |
West | Mid-April | June – August | Late October |
Pacific Northwest | Mid-April | June – August | Late October |
What’s The Best Time of Year To Skydive?
Every season has its pros and cons, but if you’re looking to skydive with the least amount of weather interruption, your best bet is usually during midsummer at about 9:00 am. Early June is usually the best month before things get too hot in July and August.
Time of Year to Skydive | Pros / Cons |
Early Spring | Can be chilly in the mornings, but windy in the afternoons. Best to book for around 10:00 am if possible. |
Late Spring | Perhaps the best time of year to skydive! Book early as winds can still play a factor. Crisp air and high visibility make this a desirable time to jump! |
Early Summer | This part of the summer is ideal. More consistent and stable winds generally lead to fewer weather delays. Temperatures aren’t quite scorching! |
Summer | It’s the most popular time of the year to skydive. You may wish to select a weekday to jump as it’s a little less busy. Of course, summer is hot so try to book at the beginning or the end of the day. |
Early Fall | A gorgeous time of year, but of course weather delays can come into play because of winds. Watch the weather forecast and choose a sunny day with light winds. |
If you’re wanting to get into the nitty-gritty of the best time to jump during each season, here’s a quick read on the best time of day to skydive within each seasonal period. We also have a guide on what to wear when skydiving that will help you make the right wardrobe decisions in any season.
Can You Skydive in the Fall?
It’s commonplace to skydive during the fall months, but not for the entire fall. Officially, the fall season lasts from the third week in September through the third week in December. Most skydiving centers operating in the northeast, midwest, and Pacific northwest operate through the third weekend in October. Skydiving during late September and early October is usually ideal but does require an added layer of clothing. It’s not uncomfortable and if you like the cooler weather, it’s considered by some to be the best time of year to skydive.
Can You Skydive in the Winter?
If you’re wishing to skydive during the winter months, it is possible. Though you won’t have the opportunity to skydive in the colder states, there are several dropzones that do operate during the winter months that we recommend. These are the locations we recommend for skydiving during the winter months in different parts of the country and a couple of special places in the world:
Dropzone | Location |

Skydive Paraclete XP | Raeford, NC |
Skydive Monroe | Monroe, Georgia |

Skydiving in the Spring
If you’re a Wisconsinite, then you know what we know: it’s a long winter! Once we pull the planes in for the offseason, we won’t be pulling them out again until early April (we miss it so much!) Some of the best skydiving all year occurs during late April as the grass finally starts turning green and we can escape our homes and take to the skies!
If you’re wishing to skydive before the end of the season, click here to schedule your jump now. Even though we’re closed in the winter, you can give the gift of skydiving for the holidays! Skydiving gift certificates are available and can be redeemed as soon as we crank back up for another awesome skydiving season.
If you have already jumped with us – thank you! We’re so grateful for your support of our family and business!
