Skydiving isn’t just a sport – it’s a playground for people who love pushing boundaries. For us, the sky is not the limit!
At Wisconsin Skydiving Center, we’re all about the thrill, but also the community that makes skydiving so special. So we decided to take a fresh look at some of the most mind-boggling skydiving world records ever set. Whether you’re a first-timer or a licensed jumper, these skydiver records are guaranteed to inspire.
Here are 10 of our favorite world skydiving records – some fun, some seriously impressive, and all a little bit crazy (in the best way)!

1. Highest Skydive Ever: Alan Eustace – 135,889 feet
In 2014, Google executive Alan Eustance decided to quietly float into history – literally! He hopped in a giant balloon that went over 25 miles above Earth, and then let go at 135,889 feet! During his freefall on the way back down, he even broke the sound barrier at speeds over 822 miles per hour. He broke the record for the highest skydive, even surpassing Felix Baumgartner’s Red Bull jump. It took science, engineering, and a whole lot of guts.
Does this mean you can skydive from 60,000 feet or higher? Not unless you’ve got some serious expendable income. The closest you’ll otherwise get is jumping at West Tennessee Skydiving which offers jumps from 41K feet!
2. Fastest Freefall During a Regular Skydive: Marco Hepp – 330.4 mph
In 2022, during a speed skydiving competition, Marco Hepp became a human missile and broke the fastest skydive record. Want to know how fast a 15000 ft skydive is for context? Most skydivers fall around 120-130 mph during a regular skydive – Hepp clocked a top speed of 330.4 mph in freefall!
3. Most Jumps in 24 Hours: Jay Stokes – 640 jumps
How many skydives can one person do in a single day? For Jay Stokes, that answer is a whopping 640. He made that happen in 2006, jumping about once every two minutes for 24 straight hours.
He used multiple rigs, a full support team, and a whole lot of endurance to keep going – and yes, Guinness World Records folk were there to witness it. Jay has a few records – surprise, surprise – but this one is especially astounding.
4. Largest Belly Formation: 400-Way in Thailand
Picture 400 people, from 31 different countries, falling together at terminal velocity… and then linking arms to create the perfect formation in the sky. That actually happened in 2006 in Udon Thani, Thailand, and it’s still the largest belly-to-earth formation ever built! The coordination, training, and trust needed to pull this off are just unreal.
5. World Skydiving Day: 30,351 Jumps in One Day
Wondering what the world record for skydiving is? On July 13, 2024, skydivers from all over the world came together for the first ever World Skydiving Day – and collectively made 30,351 jumps in just 24 hours! That’s the most jumps ever recorded in one day.
It wasn’t about breaking personal records – it was about fellowship. Dropzones everywhere got involved. Whether it was someone’s first tandem or a licensed jumper logging their 500th skydive, it was a celebration of flight, freedom, and how fun our sport really is.

6. Largest Canopy Formation: 100-Way in Florida
One hundred skydivers gathered in Florida in 2007 – not to build something in freefall, but under canopy. They risked parachute entanglements and other challenges to stack themselves into a giant, floating quilt in the sky. Stunning!
Canopy formation skydiving isn’t as well-known as belly or freeflying, but it’s just as intense if not more. You’ve got to fly your canopy with pinpoint accuracy, dock gently, and stay perfectly in sync with everyone around you.
7. Biggest Wingsuit Formation (No Grips): 61 Flyers
In 2015, 61 wingsuit flyers gathered in California to do something that sounds impossible: fly together in a massive formation … without grabbing each other! This record is purely based on proximity flying – flying super close together with your body perfectly stable and motionless in the air. Think of it like synchronized swimming, except you’re in the air, moving over 100 mph, and you only have about two minutes. Wow, right!?
8. Three Wingsuit Records in One Jump: Sebastián Álvarez – Speed, Distance, and Time
Just a couple of months ago, in early 2025, Sebastián Álvarez raised the bar: he broke three different wingsuit records in a single jump! First, he broke the speed record by harnessing the Earth’s jet streams, reaching 342 mph (faster than even the highest skydive ever!).
During the jump, he traveled over 33.22 miles, beating the previous record by nearly double! He demonstrated mind-blowing endurance with a flight time of 11 minutes and 1 second. This meant he flew a distance longer than a marathon in just 11 minutes!
While Álvarez might’ve made it look easy, maintaining the proper, stable wingsuit body position for that long is an incredible show of stamina and strength. Let’s get inspired by his athletic prowess – skydiving can be a fun way to exercise!
9. The Oldest Skydiver Ever: Al Blaschke – 106 Years Old
If you’re worried you’re too old to skydive, let Al Blaschke convince you otherwise. He not only holds the world record for the oldest tandem skydiver, but he broke it twice! He skydived three times – to commemorate his 100th birthday, to celebrate his twin grandsons’ college graduations, and again in Texas in 2023 to reclaim his record.
10. Landing Accuracy: Thomas Jeannerot – 2 cm Over 10 Jumps
Most of these skydiving world records take place in the sky, but this record is unique! Landing your parachute exactly where you want to is one of the most important skills needed to skydive safely, and Thomas Jeannerot is the pro.
During a true accuracy competition in 2013, Jeannerot made 10 jumps. These landings were so accurate that, cumulatively, he only landed a total of 2 cm away from the target. Incredible!

What Will Your Record Be?
All these record-breakers started in the exact same place: their first jump. Every solo jumper on this list began with just an A-license. You don’t have to break a record to do something you’ll always remember. Skydiving can change your life!
Just showing up for that very first tandem skydive is enough of a personal milestone – and we’d be thrilled to be there with you when you reach it! Learn more about what it means to be a skydiver, and if you feel ready to take that leap, book your first jump. Blue skies!
