Skydiving is expensive for good reason
Skydiving is expensive because facilitating the life-changing experience that is human flight is a costly endeavor! If you find an opportunity to jump at a bargain-basement price – buyer beware!
The costs associated with running a top-notch dropzone in your area are numerous and ongoing. From fuel and the maintenance of aircraft, skydiving equipment, and facilities, to the engagement of highly-trained and experienced pilots, instructors, camera flyers, riggers, parachute packers, and support staff, the overhead is significant.
There isn’t a way to make skydiving cheap without cutting serious corners. A steal of a deal could be risky business that might include older equipment, poorly maintained aircraft, and/or less experienced personnel.
Do your homework
A great way to identify a reputable dropzone among those that pop up in your “skydiving near me” results is to comb through customer reviews. Check Facebook, Tripadvisor, and Yelp, looking for feedback that notes professionalism and an overall excellent experience. People who have an awesome time typically make mention of feeling comfortable, confident, and empowered, and often talk about friendly staff who took the day from good to great.
After that initial sticker shock, you may wonder, is skydiving worth the money? And after reading through reviews, you’ll know your answer – hell yes it is!! Here are just a few of our favorite reviews from recent WSC customers:
Bo the owner is a great and wonderful man, he made everything feel safe and explained it in a way to truly feel comfortable with that we were about to do. the staff was super personable and well trained to make sure I felt safe and in good hands. – Trent A.
My son and I did tandem jumps … This whole facility is first rate: The staff, the planes, the equipment, the instruction, the video/photography…Everyone made sure were having a blast! I only have positive things to say. Our experience here was phenomenal! Next time I’m taking my daughter. :D – Brett H.
This place is fantastic. My girlfriend and I were incredibly anxious about jumping out of a plane … Bill, our jump master did a phenomenal job of putting our minds at ease. He covered everything, answered all of our questions, and made us feel very very safe. As for the plunge, truly indescribable. You must experience it for yourself. If you find yourself in the great state of Wisconsin, this is the place to do it. Thanks for the everlasting memory. You guys were amazing. – Derek W.

In addition to your tandem jump, there are a few buying decisions to make ahead of suiting up for your skydive.
Number one: video. Should you get it? YES! 100% yes, you should! The greatest regret we hear from first-timers is not getting the video. You can only make your first jump once – you’ve got to capture it! Between your nerves and excitement, your experience can fly by without you taking it all in. Not only will you relive your best day ever again and again, but you’ll also be able to share it with your pals and family. (Plus, it’s social media gold #wisconsinskydivingcenter.)
Consider getting a group together ahead of making your booking at the best skydiving center in the Midwest. The more, the merrier, and the deeper the discount – especially for the organizer (who also gets a free t-shirt!):
- Groups 4-6: Organizer $235, $245/group member
- Groups 7-12: Organizer $215, $235/group member
- Groups 13-19: Organizer $185, $225/group member
- Groups 20+: Organizer jumps free, $225/group member
If you touch down from your tandem and realize that your big “make a skydive” bucket list item has shifted in flight to “learn to skydive” – then you’re headed to skydiving school! To become a licensed skydiver, you have to complete AFF (Accelerated Freefall Program) – a prescribed curriculum sanctioned by the USPA (US Parachute Association). At the end of extensive ground training and 24 jumps, you’ll earn your A License. If your bucket list morphs during AFF, you can aspire to earn your B, C, and D licenses. Boom!
